Programme Description

The programme is supported by Groundwork UK and the national Youth Works Board as part of the Youth Works network across England and Wales.

Youth Works Egremont is in a unique position of becoming the first independent Youth Works programme in the UK. This offers Youth Works and Groundwork nationally a valuable opportunity to develop the Youth Works model in other areas and we will continue to support Youth Works Egremont to ensure the long-term sustainability of the programme.

The Egremont Management Committee are pleased confirm that the programme has been fully operational from 18 July 2005 and is now fully financed until 2007.

Winner of the 2003 Social Inclusion Award

The Cumberland News : Countryside Awards 2003 hosted in partnership with the North West Development Agency were held at the Shepards Inn, Carlisle on 23 January 2004.

Youth Works Egremont is extremely pleased and honoured to have won the 2003 Community Category - Social Inclusion Award.

The award highlights projects, which promote social inclusion in rural areas, particularly those that provide young people with the kind of activities and facilities, which are taken for granted in urban areas.

  • Youth Works Egremont became a Limited company on 19 January 2006 registration number 5680352.
  • Youth Works Egremont confirmed membership of the Nestle “Make Space Club” in March 2006.
  • Egremont Youth Works Ltd received their charity number 1114480 on 1 June 2006.
  • 2 young ladies completed their positive parenting course (school year 9) covering issues of stress, budgeting, pregnancy, and health.
  • 10 young people, 8 female and 2 male completed horse management course receiving a Youth Works / Bradleys stables certificate on completion. Full page in local evening news – Stabel-ising Influence – detailing the Youth Works course.
  • Total attendances January – April 2006: 246.
